Sambar Rice Recipe

it is popularly prepared in south indian state of tamilnadu, but hugely popular among all the states of india. it has strong similarities to the karnataka version of bisi bele bath with the same texture and colour but has a unique flavour and taste to the recipe and is also much easier to prepare.
Ingrediants
For Masala:
  1. oil as required
  2. channa dal 1tsp
  3. coriander seeds 1tsp
  4. Fenugreek Seeds 1/2 tsp
  5. black pepper corns 1tsp
  6. cumin seeds 1tsp
  7. curry leaves
  8. dry red chillies 7 to 8
  9. raw Coconut 1/2 cup
For Sambar Rice:
  1. rice 1 cup
  2. toor dal 1/2 cup
  3. oil as required
  4. mustard seeds 1tsp
  5. turmeric powder pinch
  6. dry Red chillies
  7. hing pinch
  8. shallots or small Onions
  9. curry leaves
  10. Drumstick pieces
  11. chopped beans
  12. chopped potatoes
  13. chopped carrot
  14. chopped tomatoes
  15. salt as required
  16. tamarind extract
Method of Preparation
For Masala:
  • Take a pan add oil once oil get heated add channa dal 1tsp, coriander seeds 1tsp, Fenugreek Seeds 1/2 tsp, black pepper corns 1tsp, cumin seeds 1tsp mix it once and now add curry leaves, dry red chillies 7 to 8, raw Coconut 1/2 cup fry on low flame.
  • let it cool down completely, then after transfer this mixture into blender & add little water blend it smooth paste. Transfer this paste into bowl.

For Sambar Rice:
  • Take 1/2 cup of dal boil it & transfer into bowl. Now take a kadai add oil once heated add mustard seeds 1tsp, turmeric powder pinch, dry Red chillies, hing pinch, shallots or small Onions, curry leaves fry them on a low flame.
  • Now add Drumstick pieces, chopped beans, chopped potatoes, chopped carrot, fry it in a oil.
  • Once veggies get fried add little water cover it with lid cook for 5 to 10 mins.
  • Now after 10 mins add chopped tomatoes, prepared masala paste, Tamarind extract, boiled dal, add salt, add boiled rice and give good mix cover with lid and cook 5 to 10 mins on low flame.
  • After 10 mins switch off the flame cool it and serve it with pickle and papad.
