Onion chutney recipeonion chutney recipe | south indian onion chutney for idli & dosa typically chutney recipes have always been an excellent accompaniment for indian meals. basically it helps to enhance the taste of food by acting as side dish. more frequently, chutney’s are considered to be side dish for south indian breakfast recipes. however a spicy onion chutney recipe can also be an ideal condiment for roti, paratha’s and even for sandwiches.
Ingrediants
  1. 3 Onions medium sized
  2. dry red chillies 10 to 12
  3. oil as required
  4. coriander seeds 1 tsp
  5. Fenugreek Seeds 1/2 tsp
  6. salt as required
  7. tamarind
For Tadka:
  1. oil as required
  2. cumin seeds
  3. channa dal
  4. mustard seeds
  5. uradal
  6. garlic 3 to 4
  7. dry red chillies
  8. curry leaves
Method of Preparation
  • Take a pan add oil, once oil was heated add coriander seeds, Fenugreek Seeds, dry red chillies fry it on low flame. Once everything get fried transfer to blender.
  • In the same pan add sliced onions and add little amount salt, fry it until it turns into golden brown.
  • Cool the mixture completely in the same time add the Tamarind into the blender.
  • Now add onion mixture and add little water blend it into smooth paste.

For Tadka:
  • take pan add oil once heated add cumin seeds, channa dal, mustard seeds, uradal, garlic 3 to 4, dry red chillies, curry leaves fry it on low flame add prepared Chutney. Turn-off the flame serve with rice or dosa idli or upma.
